Big race looms for rowers
26th February 2007
On 11 February a number of crews from the rowing team competed in the Head of the Tawe, hosted by The City of Swansea Rowing Club.
These included two mens and one womens coxed four, a coxless pair and a single. In the mens coxed four event, the first team performed strongly winning the category, while the second team came in a respectable third place.
The women's coxed four achieved outstanding results winning their event as well. Cook and Cooper entered the coxless pair event where they also rowed strongly to achieve first place.
Generally an all-round superb performance for Swansea, coming home with three wins. We head now to the most important part of the season where we have a number of events coming up including BUSA, up in Nottingham, and The Tomos Watkin Welsh Boat Race held down in Cardiff on March 21 which all are invited to attend.
Tickets will be on sale soon and will include a coach to and from the venue, where you will be able to watch the race, and then free entry into Time afterwards!
Look out for the posters with details. You do not have to be a keen rower to enjoy the event, so if you want to come down and watch the race, or are just keen for a few drinks afterwards, then get in touch with the rowing club to get tickets or contact the AU office, via the AU website for more info.
